Gillie Welstead has spent much of her life immersed in nature and art. Having studied natural sciences at university and a spell doing botanical research in Borneo, she went on to have a varied career including running a successful art gallery at Stirling Castle and then her own space for ten years.
In her early 20s, Gillie had found herself in London and spent time studying silversmithing at Central Saint Martins, and has reignited her passion in the last ten years with help from evening classes at the Leith School of Art in Edinburgh. Her inspirations and ideas come from a well travelled life and the shapes and patterns she admires in nature.
These days, she splits her time tending to her wonderful kitchen and cutting gardens and lost in a world of making at her jewellery bench in her Edinburgh studio.
